Politics and Government in the US

This is a masterclass on US government taught by CUNY professor Dr. Michael Sharpe. This masterclass will explain the theory, institutions and functioning of US Politics and Government. The course will be an analysis of American politics in economic, social, and ideological context, emphasizing the Presidency, Congress, the Judiciary, the federal bureaucracy, political parties, and interest groups.

In the first of four lectures Dr. Sharpe will introduce the US Constitution and the Federal System, followed by a lecture on Civil Liberties and Civil Rights. In the third lecture Dr. Sharpe will explain the most important US Institutions: Congress, the Presidency, and the Federal Courts. This four lecture series will be concluded by a public lecture on US foreign policy in the age of Trump.
