Yet, the welcome received by refugees has varied worldwide amid an increasing perception of refugees, asylum-seekers, and migrants as a burden. Gaining a better understanding of the research is essential in order to devise policies that address local concerns and avoid misrepresentation or opportunism. How should society respond to an influx of refugees, in light of their precarity and rights as persons seeking protection? What does the research demonstrate regarding the challenges and opportunities in social, economic, and cultural integration of refugees, asylum-seekers, and migrants, providing examples from around the region and globally?
