The Student Council of the University of Aruba or Studentenraad van de Universiteit van Aruba has been a dream initiated by students of the University of Aruba. This dream ultimately became a reality in 2012 when the first elections were held. The first board was elected on November 16th, 2012.

The University of Aruba (UA) is a modern University offering higher education, research and social services to Aruba and the surrounding regions.
Established in 1988, the UA provides undergraduate and postgraduate education in four faculties: Law; Accounting, Finance and Marketing; Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies; and Arts and Science.
The current four Faculties and the various University Centers strive to contribute to academic discussion, participate in the sustainable development of Aruba, and promote critical open-minded thinking.

From 19-21 January 2017 the first Pressure Cooker Marathon took place at the University of Aruba. 30 Aruban journalists, scholars and young talents participated in work sessions, live broadcasts and trainings guided by lecturers such as Jeroen Pauw and colleagues Dick Drayer and Favell Maduro from neighboring island Curaçao.
