Faculty of Law
The Faculty of Law of the University of Aruba aims to provide Aruba with well-trained and highly qualified lawyers. Our faculty offers two academic education programs, a bachelor degree and a master degree in the Law of Aruba. The Faculty of Law also conducts research and delivers services that benefit the Aruban society as a whole and the legal professional community in particular.
The Faculty of Law is a social partner for all stakeholders, providing service to the community in the academic spirit, thereby practicing principles like 'fairness', 'thoroughness', 'accountability', 'trustworthiness', 'impartiality' and 'independence'.
Academic Programs
Bachelor degree Law of Aruba, LLB.
The 3-year bachelor program in the Law of Aruba provides the multidisciplinary and general competences that qualify that are neede to access the master program. The Faculty envisions holders of the bachelor degree to be excellent professionals in the paralegal fields.
Admission Requirements:
- Advanced high school (V.W.O.) or equivalent
- Bachelor degree in another field
- Colloquium Doctum

Master degree Law of Aruba, LLM.
The 1-year master program in the study of the Law of Aruba prepares the student to become a fully certified legal professional. Holders of this degree have access to the so-called 'toga' legal professions. This degree will be recquired to enter training programs to become a judge, a prosecuter or an attorney at law. This degree also qualifies for all professions requiring high-level academic competences combined with the discipline that comes with legal thinking.
Admission Requirements:
- LLB or equivalent.
Certificate Program
This non-degree certificate program provides professionals with the opportunity to follow individual courses in specific areas of interest.

- Age over 20 years

Faculty Research
The Faculty of Law conducts applied and scientific research in all legal fields. The faculty members publish their research findings in books, publications series like the SNAAR series and Aruba Iuridica, legal periodicals like TAR Justicia and the Nederlandse Juristen Blad (NJB). Research competencies are also required of our students, and all need to produce a research thesis that is accessible to the public through the University Library.
