The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is one of the offices of the University of Aruba that supports students to assume roles of leadership in a fast changing society. The mission of OSA is as follows: "Striving to achieve and sustain a high level of student satisfaction and to support students throughout their journey at the University of Aruba." OSA continues to improve the methods and strategies adopted to facilitate students and faculties in taking the responsibility for their learning and development in higher education.

EDUCATION

Scope of work and responsibilities

OSA views itself as a partner in the pursuit of institutional goals and objectives. OSA strives to achieve this by working on different areas of responsibility. The six work areas are:

  1. Student Care:
OSA organizes its activities with the following goal in mind: to foster students’ development towards socially committed and ethically responsible professionalism and civic participation.
  2. Recruitment, Marketing and Information:
Twice a year (March and October) OSA together with the faculties plan and organize information days where prospective students can gather information about the various studies offered at the University of Aruba. Also, as part of the welcoming program for all new students, OSA works together with the faculties in planning and organizing extensive fun-filled orientation days.
  3. Student Administration:
The Office of Student Affairs of the University of Aruba is also responsible for the application process of new students and the re-application process of current students.
  4. Internationalization:
The University of Aruba offers its students a unique opportunity to enhance the university experience by taking the challenge to follow part of their studies abroad and/or to go abroad for their internships. OSA challenges students to "give studying abroad some thought," as the University of Aruba has good working relationships with different universities in the Netherlands, USA, Curaçao and in the neighboring islands.
  5. Alumni:
As alumni of the University of Aruba, you have various ways to contribute, be engaged and to become actively involved at the UA. Be proud of all your accomplishments and never forget your experiences here at the university.

To become involved you can:

  1. Write articles to share your story: you can write articles to share your experiences from your side of the world.
  2. Help promote the UA: you can contribute by making students aware of the great opportunities the UA has to offer. If you would like to organize a promotional activity to support the UA or if you would like to be actively engaged in the various events, please contact us.
  3. Attend the alumni events: every academic year OSA together with the faculties organize two alumni events. To learn more about the various possibilities, please contact us.
