photo-rector-meeting.jpgThe University of Aruba was founded in 1988. In this same year, the University started its Faculty of Law with a program in Aruban Law. In 1993, the Faculty of Economics was established and currently houses two Bachelor programs: Finance and Commercial Economics. As of 2005, the University of Aruba established its third Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Management Studies, consisting of a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management.  In 2008, the Faculty started with the MBA in International Tourism & International Business. As of 2009, the University of Aruba established its fourth Faculty of Art & Science (FAS).

The mission of the University of Aruba is:


- To offer high-quality professional and scientific education; conduct academic and applied research; and provide community services to enhance the social, intellectual, economic and cultural development of Aruba and its Communities;

- To develop the full-potential of students and professionals and provide lifelong opportunities to leaders in both private and public sectors, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of the Aruban society and economy;

- To serve as a national institute of knowledge and development for the Aruban Community;

The University of Aruba is governed by the Board of Trustees, and the President (i.e.,‘Rector’) is responsible for the university management of education, research,community services, and the professional development of the University.

photo-group-proffesor.jpgSome 21 years ago the University of Aruba started out as a subdivision of the University of the Netherlands Antilles.  

The faculty of law was the first subdivision. In 1993 the faculty of Economics was established and currently houses two bachelor programs: Finance and commercial Economics. As of 2005, the University of Aruba established its third Faculty of Hospitality & Tourism Managements Studies, consisting of a Bachelor of Science in Hospitality & Tourism Management. In 2008, this faculty started also with the MBA in International Tourism & International Business. In 2009 the faculty of Arts & Science opened there doors for students to further studies in the area of bachelor of Art & Social Work & Development (Sw&D) and a bachelor of Arts in Organization, Governance and Management (OG&M) In additional to the four faculties we also have a center of Research and Development and a center for quality Assurance .
