Invitation: Human Rights Conference – Aruba 2026

You are invited to the Aruba Human Rights Conference on the 2nd of October.
Through discussions, expert contributions and interactive exchanges, the Human Rights Conference Aruba seeks to share knowledge about the Council of Europe’s monitoring mechanisms and make human rights instruments more accessible. In addition, it will create a platform for exchange with stakeholders and foster stronger connections between the institutions and experts.

Council of Europe

The Council of Europe is one of the leading organizations in the world for the protection of human rights, democracy and the rule of law. The Council of Europe has developed more than 200 treaties on issues ranging from human rights and cybercrime to sports integrity, prevention of violence against women and girls and the protection of minority languages. The European Convention on Human Rights and the European Court of Human Rights are among its best-known achievements.

Although the Council of Europe is not always widely known to the general public, its impact can be felt in everyday life across the world. From November 2026 to May 2027, the Kingdom of the Netherlands will hold the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers’ Human Rights meetings, followed by the Presidency of the Committee of Ministers itself in May 2027.

The conference is intended for a broad and diverse audience, including: students and young professionals, members of the judiciary and the Public Prosecution Service, lawyers and legal professionals, politicians and policymakers, government officials and civil servants, NGOs and civil society organizations, human rights practitioners, academics and researchers, etc. Looking forward to seeing you on the 2nd of October at the University of Aruba.
