Introduction
We are honored to invite you to a commemorative symposium marking the 40th Anniversary of Aruba’s Status Aparte. As we reflect on four decades of autonomy, we gather to explore a vital theme for our future:
“Institutional Development in Support of Prosperity and Well-being”
This evening serves as a continuation of the dialogue, focusing on how our institutions from the judiciary and law enforcement to healthcare and education have evolved from colonial structures into pillars of an independent Aruban identity. How has Aruba’s “Status Aparte” shaped the institutions that guard our health, safety, and knowledge?
Join us on April 16, 2026, for a special symposium where we will dive deep into the evolution of our legal system, the professionalization of our police force, the growth of mental health care, and the role of higher education in a small island state.
The panel discussion will be concluded with a networking event at the patio of the University of Aruba.
We look forward to sharing this evening with you, honoring our island, Status Aparte and the development of our island.
